About
Dash Lunde is the artist known as Virtual Perfection Cowboy. VPC creates music that emphasizes immersive experiences, with a focus on mood, audio storytelling, improvisation, meditation and the spiritual power of sound.
The VPC production house brings this approach to projects and collaborations spanning film, art, games, and new media. VPC expresses a distinct vision across a continuous evolution of genres and styles.
The latest iteration of VPC focuses on the VPC Ensemble, a collection of seasoned improvisers across psychedelic, ambient and jazz. Incorporating live dance led by Kacie Boblitt, the Ensemble invites the audience to experience the healing power of improvised movement, becoming a part of the performance. The Ensemble’s debut release “Life Is a Strange Loop” has just been released on Notes from the Undergroudn via the Orchard.

Life Is a Strange Loop is the new album from Virtual Perfection Cowboy, debuting the VPC Ensemble. Across 32 minutes of ever-flowing, never-stopping improvisation spanning psychedelic rock, ambient electronic and spiritual jazz, the record traces a single idea through sound: that everything — music, family, consciousness, the universe itself — is built from cycles that fold back on themselves, deepen, and reinvent themselves with each return.
The title nods to Douglas Hofstadter, but the album reaches past philosophy into something more physical and organic. Repetition here is the ground that makes improvisation possible. Themes are established so they can be broken, transformed, or rediscovered. Synth pads orbit jazzy ride cymbals, flutes and guitars wander out and find their way back changed, vocal textures and the bird calls and whale sounds of electric viola sing the cycles of the natural world. The album relates a vision of the world similar to a jazz ensemble, where the forms are fixed but the freedom is in what you do inside it.
Written and produced during a season of new fatherhood, Life Is a Strange Loop carries the quiet vertigo of watching a new life begin while your own keeps unfolding — generations stacking, each one widening the view. It's an album for headphones and long walks, and for anyone who suspects the universe is composed of cosmic musical harmony.
